Creamy Oatmeal

This is not a new recipe, but it was new to me. And boy am I ever glad I tried it!! This is hands down the best oatmeal I have ever tried. And frankly, it is by far the creamiest bowl of oats to date.

Yummy, Creamy Oatmeal
(Source: Multiple)

Ingredients
1/2 c. oats (not quick cooking)
1 c. skim milk (or a combination of 1/2 c. water + 1/2 c. skim milk)
1 very ripe banana
1-2 T. peanut butter
Put oats, milk and banana into a pot on medium heat. Mash the banana with the back of a spoon while stirring the oats and milk. Cook to desired creaminess, when most of the liquid is absorbed {mine takes ~5 minutes}.Pour into a bowl. Top with 1-2 T. peanut butter. Enjoy!!!

{The heat of the oatmeal allows the PB to melt across the top of the bowl of oats. Seriously. So good. If you look closely, you can see the banana chunks in the bowl above. If you like banana bread, I think you would like this!}

This does look wonderful. Dad's recipe for oatmeal is one cup of oatmeal and one cup of vanilla soy milk and heat for two minutes in the microwave. Add honey and cinnamon, stir and wait a few minutes. This is delicious too. My microwave smells like apple pie, constantly! Yum...

This looks *great*! I kind of got off peanut butter with the big scare a few months ago but just started eating it again yesterday. Now I'll try it with oatmeal -- what a great-sounding combo! -- Janet H

Janet and Holly -- You will love this!! The mashed banana makes for such a creamy oatmeal. And the PB?! Uh - as far as I am concerned, you cannot go wrong with PB.
"Anonymous" aka Mom -- You should start adding cinnamon to your daily oatmeal! You know how many health benefits Dad says it has! :)
